Great response to the Secondary Expo!

Thank you for your fantastic support at the Secondary Subject Expo. We were pleased to see Years 9 and10 students from Visual Arts, Timber, Music, Drama and Food Technology showcasing their work that evening in our new TAS building.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers who worked behind the scenes talking to different students about electives and subjects that they would like to learn next year. I am pleased to know that the conversations have not stopped yet. Students and teachers are still conversing about electives and subject selections. If you have not been able to talk to specific teachers, I encourage you to contact them as soon as possible.

The surveys for electives and subject preferences for next year are due this Monday, 7 June 2021. If you have not completed the survey, here are the links.

Thank you for some of the anonymous feedback that we have received so far. Since this expo is the first that we have organised, we would appreciate feedback to improve the evening so that it is a worthwhile experience for all our students. If you would still like to provide us with your feedback, here’s the link

We really enjoyed the recent subject information expo for students and parents.
The expo offered both students and parents an opportunity to meet with teachers
to consider the subject choices on offer for 2022. Both students and parents were invited to explore the subject content and assessment expectations in relaxed conversation with teachers.  This was helpful, enabling them to discuss their interest and consider their suitability for subjects on offer.

As parents it was a pleasure to see the creative work showcased in projects from art and wood tech students as part of the evening and to enjoy quality music and drama performances as part of the evening. We enjoyed the relaxed format of the evening and how we had an opportunity to catch up with other parents and students and enjoy lovely food catered by the food tech students. We found the expo a great experience and would recommend that all students and parents considering their future subjects attend. Richard & Silvia Cimador.

I found the display of each subject around the building and the stamp sheet to encourage everyone to talk to everyone helpful. Also, having the different stations was really easy to navigate and all the teachers spoke clearly about what their subject entails. The organised set up also gave the night a good atmosphere.

Secondary leaders attend 'Synergy'

Last Thursday, Mr Bray and Mrs Bate took our secondary captains and prefects to the 'Synergy' Breakfast which was held at Calderwood Christian School.

All five ATICS schools had their leadership teams present and this was the second ’Synergy’ event that they have attended. The first was late last year when each team shared their leadership ‘vision’ for their schools and participated in public speaking training sessions.

This second occasion required each team to present a PowerPoint presentation assessing what they had learned about being leaders in Christian schools - the challenges, the achievements, how to lead ‘Christianly’ etc. They also had a further leadership/public speaking training session, especially aimed at assisting school captains to be well prepared for their Thanksgiving Evening speeches. Our students in attendance were Jono W; Izzy M; Annie K; Micah P; Harry T. Unfortunately, Ashley L was unable to attend due to ill-health.

Making new friends using French

Year 8 students visited Year 2 and shared the stories that they'd written, in French, about their families. After they'd shared their stories, Year 2 read their stories to their buddies. It was a delightful and exciting experience.
