From the Principal...

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

Hail Mary... Gentle Woman...

I hope you all enjoyed Mother's Day on Sunday with your families.  Thanks to all the special adults who came along to share in the day last Friday. Please see the Deputy Principal's page for images of our Mother's Day celebrations.

The above image was used in Staff Prayer. I wonder if you might see some similarities with the Christian story of Jesus' parents - Mary and Joseph. It might be fun to sit with your child and see how many references to biblical stories they can find. You might find a reference to Old Testament stories, for example, Genesis, such as the Garden of Eden, Noah's Ark. You might see stories from the New Testament such as references to Joseph as a carpenter or Mary.

This image also speaks to viewers as a typical image of an Australian backyard, perhaps from the 1970's or 1980's. I don't believe it is an image that depicts today's families. Today families come in all different sizes. Some have a mum and a dad, some might have one parent, or two mums, or two dads, some may include the extended family with aunties, uncles, cousins and grandparents living together. Whatever the configuration of your family the most important thing is love for one another!

In the image, I can see a very pregnant woman in the hammock reading a book. She looks relaxed in her time of waiting. I wonder how many families are relaxed waiting for a big event to happen? I wonder if her relaxed waiting could be because she has faith in God and trusts in Him.

Enjoy the image and I would love to hear what you think about this image in relation to Mary or just what it reminds you of in relation to family.

Have a wonderful week!

God Bless, Michelle Bruitzman
