PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Well term two is certainly keeping us all very busy and this week has been no different!

COUGHS AND COLDS:

We have noticed a high number of students coming down with colds and nasty coughs this week. Please just a reminder to all families, if your child/ren are unwell, it is still recommended that students do not attend school. If they exhibit cold and flu like symptoms, please get a COVID test.

NAPLAN:

Our Grade 3 and Grade 5 students completed their NAPLAN tests this week and they all need to be commended on their perseverance in tackling this National series of tests. Tuesday kicked off with both the Writing and Language Conventions test, followed by the Reading test on Wednesday and the Numeracy test yesterday. To all students that were involved, congratulations on giving it your all. Results will be available later in the year.

STAFFING:

Monday we welcomed Asher Arnel back to Echuca East. Asher is back in the grade 3/4 classroom (Monday and Tuesdays) sharing the grade with Mrs Sarah Williams. We would also like to publicly thank Mrs Williams for stepping up into a full time role in Asher’s absence.

SCHOOL REVIEW:

Finally, our School Review is upon us, starting next week. Term one was spent analysing our data and completing our Pre-Review Self Evaluation document, which forms the basis of the Review process. Next Tuesday is Validation Day – Day one of the Review Process.

On Wednesday the 26th of May starting at 8:45 in the Arts Centre, there will be a Parent Forum. This is a great opportunity for parents to come and share their thoughts and ideas about Echuca East Primary School. We will send out more information next week, but pop this date in your calendar now and stay tuned!

2022 PREP ENROLMENTS:

Thank you to the many families that attended our Prep Information session. It was fabulous to see so many new and old faces on the night. We hope you enjoyed our presentation and personalised tours. I would like to both thank and congratulate our school captains for their professionalism and confidence in hosting the tours. They did an amazing job! You certainly cannot underestimate the voices and perception of our kids.

Just a reminder, if you know of any families that are interested in enrolling their child for next year, or would like a tour of the school and couldn’t make it to our information session, please encourage them to contact the office. We certainly don’t want anyone to miss out joining our fabulous Eastie family!

EDUCATION SUPPORT STAFF:

“Education Support Day” is celebrated on the 16th of May each year – This year, our fabulous support staff get to pop their feet up and relax in peace and quiet, as this year it is celebrated on a Sunday! This is a great opportunity to recognise the vital contributions that these staff members make to our school every day. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing group of support staff who assist our students and teachers each and every day in so many ways!

So a very big heart felt “Thank You” to Jodi and Mel in the office. Kathy and Joel in Level 4. Rachael and Laura in Level 3. Mitch, Kotika and Gail in Level 2. Kyle and Blaize in Level 1. Sue in the canteen. Cath helping out with wellbeing and Lauchy for filling in when needed. I am speaking on behalf of everyone when I say “we couldn’t do what we do, without you!”

So whenever you see any of our amazing support staff around the school, please stop and take the time to say “thank you!”  We all appreciate you every day!

And always Remember…

“Too busy is a myth. People make time for the things and the people that are important to them.”
