Year Advisers Reports
Years 7, 9 & 11
From the Athletics Carnival to NAPLAN, Year 7 has had a jam-packed start to Term 2.
The Athletics Carnival saw Year 7 compete for the first time in the high school arena, and they should be proud of the level of commitment and participation they displayed. The day was just right for the carnival, with beautiful sunny weather, when you discount the 15 minute shower we received. This deluge did nothing to dampen the spirits of the Year 7's with some even taking to the rain like a ‘duck to water’ and many going on to compete in several races.
Year 7 also had the opportunity to participate in their first NAPLAN for high school, which was by all accounts completed with very little issue. Overall Year 7 has been taking everything they have faced in their stride and hopefully this is the trend that we will be seeing as the year continues to march forward.

What an amazing and busy start to the term we have had with Year 9. So far this term Year 9 have shown growth in their maturity and effort in classes. I am extremely proud of how they have adapted to their Stage 5 schooling, setting them up for senior school in just under two years.
During Week 1, all of Year 9 participated in the School Cross Country event. All students had a good go and engaged well with the event. It was great to be able to sit at the finish line and watch them come running (some walking) across the finish line. A particular congratulations to Ashlyn Hyland, Khyra Dickey and Malakai Wolfgramm for taking out 1st place in their age groups. Congratulations to all students who made it to Zone Cross Country. Well done!!
On Friday Week 3 was the annual Athletics Carnival. Even though the weather was not the best it was great to see the number of Year 9's at the carnival. It was wonderful to see the students participating and showing their team spirit. Although I was behind the computer entering the results is was good see lots of happy faces. A congratulations to the students who have made it to Zone. Also a massive congratulations to Ashlyn Hyland and Malakai Wolfgramm for some outstanding results during the day.
Week 4 was a very testing time for Year 9 as they sat their final NAPLAN tests. This was the first time that they has sat exams all in the hall together in official test conditions. I am extremely proud of their effort and conduct during the three days. They all tried very hard and will receive their results later in the year.
Congratulations to Jessica Hunter for competing at the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships for NSW. Jessica made it to the Grand Final match against South Australia. Jessica and her partner had won 7 matches during the tournament to reach the grand final and they were awarded with a silver medal. Awesome work Jessica!!
I look forward to seeing what rest of the term will bring. Be kind and always remember “Self belief is the secret to success”.

Another great start to the term for Year 11 students. Everyone has been working hard in class and have been producing amazing and detailed work.
Outside of the classroom Year 11 students have been showing amazing commitment to Henry Kendall High School. They have been competing in different sporting events such as Soccer, Futsal and Zone Cross Country.
At the Sports Carnival it was great to see so many Year 11 students not only present but competing and having a go at a number of different events.
The Mock Trial Team had another round in the competition, in which they made a strong case however missed the win for this round. A special mention to Zoe Delaney who scored 10’s for being a witness. This is a hard role as the witness has to remember the given statement word for word and be able to stop and start at any point in the script.
A massive thank you to all of the amazing Year 11 students who went to camp with Year 8 to make up for them missing it in Year 7. The teachers at camp commented on your positive attitude and helpful nature. It is amazing to hear such positive stories.
A reminder to Year 11 students as we come into the colder months that school uniform is still required. That includes jumpers. Please ensure that no hooded jumpers or non-school coloured jumpers are worn, including when senior jackets are worn over the top.
Keep up the great work Year 11!
