Year 5 Parents and Students:

We have commissioned a calendar to provide a record of our work with the Climate Action Project in Year 5 Library lessons this year.  It features everyone at least once (even some of those who had a lot of Thursday commitments which kept them away from our lessons) and shows the work that we engaged in to share with other children around the world. This calendar is currently being produced and each member of this group will be given a copy at the start of next year.

When the student is issued their calendar, there will be an order form inside it to request more copies. If parents are interested in buying a second copy for family members we ask that you fill in the form and return it with $10.00 per calendar to either Mrs Povey at the Junior School or Mrs O’Shannessy at the Senior School. (If we exceed 50 copies there will be a delay while we reprint).

My apologies for this situation, but the Senior School Library renovations meant I didn’t get the photographs to Ivory Print in time to have them ready for distribution before we finish up.

Final Days of Collecting Books this Year

Given that the usual library tasks were minimised once we had relocated everything into one end of the building, I had more opportunities for visiting classrooms and locker rooms. By the end of the term we still had to charge several parents for missing materials. Some text books were later located by the cleaners and these have not been charged. Junior School teachers were fantastic in chasing up their class members but not to the point of 100% returned.

If the books are found during the holidays they should be returned to the relevant branch and any payment you have made will be reimbursed. If your son or daughter tells you they handed their books back, we can check the shelves; we have, however, already double checked on both sites.

2018

We look forward to moving into our new spaces at the Senior School in mid-February. There are also some new initiatives being developed to improve Library engagement with Junior School classes, and in working alongside teachers in classrooms from time to time at the Senior School.

In the meantime, thank you to Mrs. Smith, our Library Assistant, and to all families for the support that has been given to me. I wish you all a safe, and wonderful holiday with your families, a joyous Christmas and a learning filled new year.
