Year 10 Downball Competition by Charlotte and Will 10B

The Year Ten Downball Competition is running at the moment. If you haven’t played yet, be sure to get down and support your class. There will be a $100 lunch of the food of your choice, for the winning home group. If you don’t know when your class is playing be sure to check with one of your home group captains or look out for updates in the bulletin.

If you’re not in Year 10, don’t be shy, head on down to the downball courts and watch as the teams battle it out for victory. Each game runs for ten minutes, on the nine square court, at the start of lunch. It is scored by your final position at the end of the ten minutes and you get a certain amount of points depending on the square you are in. These points are added together to create your homegroups’ final score. Games are played each lunch until the grand final on Tuesday 20th June.

At the moment, 10A is taking the lead! But don’t lose hope, there is still a chance to make your comeback in the semi-finals on Monday.

Intermediate Hockey

On Thursday 1st June the girls and boys hockey teams represented the College at the division level.

Was the day successful?

Yes, the day was successful. The boys team won their game against Rowville West Secondary College. The girls did not fare so well, but we had a lot of fun anyway. The boys team will be going through to the EMR round, and we wish them all the best.

What did you enjoy?

I enjoyed meeting students from other schools, and watching  students who play hockey competitively . Even though we did not win, I enjoyed just having a go, and having a lot of fun with my team.

How did you think the other team played?

I thought the other team played well. They combined as a team and always had someone behind them to back them up. Their ball skills were really good, and their execution and knowledge of the game really showed on the field. They had great sportsmanship and made the game very challenging for our teams.

Would you do it next year?

Yes, I would do it again next year, not just because of the game but also for the fun we have as a team and the new friends we make with other students in different year levels.
