Principal's Report

Congratulations again to our VCAL students
We were all really excited to see the completed mural at Studfield IGA and have to congratulate our VCAL students, for both their creativity and perseverance. It is a stunning piece of art and we all hope it is respected and stays looking that good for a long time. Thank you to their teachers, Mr Anthony Cotton and Mr Daniel Brooks, who provide a real life learning environment that challenges and stretches the students. Thank you to Knox Council for their involvement in this initiative

Wearing College Uniform
I am increasingly concerned with how some students are wearing the College uniform and really ask parents to help us in this matter. Many people incorrectly base their opinions of the school on how students look. However, a uniform isn't a fashion item - it is there to symbolically say you are part of the team, and you are ready to do the work of the team. How well tended it is and how correctly worn is making a statement. Girls' skirts worn as short as they would a skirt at the weekend is not wearing the uniform correctly. I am consistently quietly going up to girls to point out we can see their underwear - this is embarrassing for the girl and for me. Please insist that before they leave home you check - if they bend over and you can see their underwear you have two choices. Ask them to change into navy blue long pants or take the skirt down. I can assure you no teacher will be doing that check at school; that is the job of a parent!
Winter uniforms are designed to keep them warm. Fashion cannot trump comfort in this instance. Skirts need to be longer and the girls need to wear navy blue tights with them. These are available at the uniform shop. Black tights are not the uniform and should not be worn.
Every student is meant to have a school jumper. These are made out of good quality wool to keep them warm under their jackets. If the wool is itchy they should wear a long sleeved white shirt.
No girl should be in summer uniform - the dresses need to be hung up in the wardrobe and stay there till Term 4. Even if it looks sunny!
Please help us in this.
