Boarding

Jono Lee and Hannah Russell organised and hosted an amazing Halloween themed dinner last week and I would like to congratulate them for a great night. The participation in the dress ups was the best to date and I think every boarder who attended the dinner was in costume. It was too hard to call a best dressed on the night and it was fantastic to see everyone get into the spirit.

Despite being a long weekend we still had plenty of boarders stay in due to many Year 12s and some Year 11s having an exam on Monday. It was a busy weekend and I enjoyed getting around to see some of the boarders in action. It was great to see so many overcoming the tough rowing conditions to put in great performances on both Saturday and Sunday. I also got to see Ben McCure bat beautifully on the College Oval on Saturday afternoon, only just missing out on notching a half century.

Also in cricket, congratulations to Tara Sullivan on her selection to represent the Western Waves in the Under 18s State Championships. Tara plays for Pigeon Ponds and her selection is an amazing personal achievement. We wish her the best of luck.

Amy Steer was the only one to take up the offer of a trip to Coleraine show on Saturday so she accompanied my family out there for the afternoon. It was a lovely local show and I know my daughters enjoyed hanging out with Amy for the afternoon.

We watched the Melbourne Cup on the big screen in the common room and congratulations to Georgia Hetherington who won the sweep. I’m sure she will appreciate the chocolate prize to provide some extra energy for her study. Thanks to Gail for organising the sweep and Janine for supplying a great spread of nibbles and non-alcoholic champagne. It was a lovely thought that I’m sure was appreciated by everyone.

Best of luck to all the rowers competing this weekend at the Dimboola and Wimmera Regattas. I’m confident that the early morning training sessions will pay off.
