Associate Principal, Operations Report

Library

I mentioned to students in Assembly this week that the Library would be out of action from the commencement of next week.  This is to allow the second stage of the refurbishment of that building to commence soon and therefore be ready by mid-February next year.

Library resources will continue to be available but it is likely the usual speedy service may be somewhat slower as shelving, collections and furniture are moved to allow the building works to commence.  Study groups and English classes which regularly use the Library will be allocated to new rooms and this will be advised to students via their timetables on SIMON.  Year 12 students will have the Zachariah Room available next

week, in addition to room 15, for study purposes.  Should there be a need for further space, Year 12 students are asked to see me and I will arrange a further room for study purposes.

Academic Assistance after school will continue but, rather than taking place in the Library, will occur in rooms 5 and 6.  The same staff rostered previously for the Library session will be available to assist students from 3.45-5.45pm in those rooms.

Whilst these arrangements will mean some inconvenience, the rewards should be evident early in 2018.  The final stage of the refurbishment is scheduled for the end of 2018 and early 2019.
