Principal's Update
Tomorrow, Friday 29th October, our school will celebrate World Teachers’ Day. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity for our community to say 'thank you' and recognise the incredible contributions our teachers make to our community. As a school, we have all seen the passion our teachers have, and how teaching has extended beyond the classroom to maintain connections through remote learning. I encourage all families to let our teachers know how much we appreciate all that they do and particularly their resilience and adaptability throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, tomorrow we will also be celebrating Book Week with class parades, a Book Fair and a variety of book activities. Thank you to all families for their support with costumes for this special day. Our thanks also to Nicole for her organisation of this event and to all staff for their support and assistance in running the day’s activities. For more information about Book Week, please refer to the Book Week page of this newsletter.
A reminder to all families that next Monday 1st November is a pupil free day, so that teachers can undertake curriculum planning. OSHC will be operating for those families who require this service, but bookings are essential. As Tuesday 2nd November is a Melbourne Cup holiday, there will be no classes or OSHC on this day.
In line with the changing restrictions, as of next week, parents and carers will again be able to attend our assemblies. These will be held in the under-cover area. Please note that visitors to school grounds must comply with vaccination requirements, density limits, face mask requirements, QR code check-ins and practise respiratory etiquette and good hand hygiene.
As we are not able to control density limits within corridors and classrooms, we ask that parents/carers please continue to avoid entering these buildings. Any visitor or volunteers performing work in schools (including parent helpers, NDIS providers, and other operators such as incursion providers and private music teachers) are required to be fully vaccinated by 29 November (unless a medical exemption applies) to attend on site.
Happily, camps and excursions can also now resume. Planning for our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 camps has resumed and more information can be found on these pages of the newsletter.
Unfortunately, Division sports have now been cancelled for the remainder of the year. This means that the planned Division Athletics that were due to take place on the 5th November have also now been cancelled.
Have a happy and safe long weekend!
