Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,
WELCOME TO TERM 4
I would like to welcome our Fairvale PS community to Term 4. I am hoping you all had a nice break from ‘Learning from Home’ during the school break. I would like to particularly welcome new families to our school – we hope you continue to settle in and enjoy living in the community. Although school-life has been different, Fairvale PS is truly a great place for students, teachers and other staff. Put it simply ‘we put children first and we love what we do!’
PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS RETURN
As you know things are beginning to look up and we will see children returning to school very soon. I will communicate our school plans to you on Friday morning. These plans will explain how the drop off and pick up arrangements will work as well as information about classroom learning, hygiene, wellbeing, playtime and the school canteen operating hours. For now, check out the link below. This link will give you the latest information.
STAFF NEWS- Mrs Dean, Miss Yousif
I am happy to announce that Ms Berry is a proud mum to beautiful baby boy named Mason. Mum, Dad and baby Mason are all doing well. I would also like to announce some exciting news for two members of the school executive team, Mrs Dean and Miss Yousif. Both teachers were successful at interview and have been promoted to new schools. Mrs Dean was successful in gaining a Deputy Principal position and Miss Yousif was successful in gaining an Assistant Principal positions. Both positions are permanent, which means they will be leaving Fairvale PS (that’s the sad part!). Mrs Dean’s last day will be Friday 5 November and Miss Yousif will be with us until the end of the year. Congratulations to both teachers, truly wonderful leaders who thoroughly deserve their promotion! We are currently advertising for a temporary relieving Deputy Principal at our school, with the successful applicant to commence duty on Monday 1 November.
PARACHUTE VISITS WITH MR PITT
Thank you to 2/3 Avocados and 6 Noris for sharing some of the learning they have been doing whilst ‘Learning from Home. It was also great being able to connect with 2/3A on Zoom this week. Check out some of their learning in this edition of the newsletter.
YEAR 3 AND YEAR 5 NAPLAN
During the school holidays, Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN results were posted home to families. We hope they arrived safely and you have had the opportunity to take a look with your child. NAPLAN is a national test administered to children around the nation. The results are important to us as we plan our strategic directions around what the student data, as well as school data is telling us. The results also allow families to see how children are progressing in Literacy and Numeracy – most importantly, it is chance to say well done to your child. Be proud of their results. At Fairvale PS, we focus on improving every day, that is something that we all do! If you would like your child’s teacher to talk to you about NAPLAN, please contact the school. I am sure we can organise an online Zoom catch up session with you.
CHILD SAFTEY HANDBOOK
The digital edition of the Child Safety Handbook is available now. The emphasis is on prevention. Our children are precious and all of us who live and work with them will find information in the Handbook useful to keep children out of trouble and safe. Click on the link below.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENT 2022
We are well and truly past the half-way mark of accepting Kindergarten enrolments for 2022. If your child is turning 5 years of age before 31 July, 2022 – please complete the steps in the flyer on the next page. Due to COVID-19 safe practices, the enrolment processes will be completed online, however we will be able to assist you. If you have any questions OR need assistance, please call the school. It is important that we have all children who are ready for Kindergarten enrolled by the end of October.
For now stay safe, stay connected and please reach out and contact the school if you need any assistance.
