Foundation / Year 1 News..

After a few interrupted weeks, we are thrilled to get back into the classroom and welcome back our students. What an adaptable bunch of students they are! 

This term, students have begun listening to a range of children's fairy tales. They are developing their knowledge of the structure of narratives and are starting to write their own creative stories. The theme of fairy tales has also inspired our STEM unit (science, technology, engineering, maths), in which students build skills of teamwork, problem solving and perseverance by responding to design challenges based on a fairy tale. This week they were challenged to build a beanstalk for Jack to climb up, that was 1 metre tall and could stand up by itself. Students showed lots of creativity and produced many different looking beanstalks! We have loved transforming our classroom into the fantasy world of fairy tales too!
