Middle Unit -2/3
Year 2/3 News..
We have been so excited to welcome back the Grade 3’s into the classroom and get back to some normality as a whole class. The Grade 2’s and on-site Grade 3 students have been so excited to welcome back their fellow classmates, they have all grouped together and created a special banner to welcome them back to school.
Over the last two weeks the Grade 2/3’s have been learning about revising their writing by choosing more precise verbs to improve their personal narratives. For example, in one of the students writing they had written Ollie found the first one, I found the second one and Tom found the third. When the student went back and revised the piece of work they altered some of the verbs found. Ollie found the first one, I discovered the second one and Tom saw the third.
In reading, we have been looking at the interesting and precise word choices that authors use to help their readers visualise the story in their minds, by listening to stories without viewing the pictures, the students have drawn what they pictured in their heads, writing their precise words that helped them visualise the story.
In maths, the students have been working together to find out how many different ways they can represent division, by grouping into equal amounts and using the white boards to show how many ways they could solve the division problems set out.
The students have also enjoyed partaking in science lessons with Mrs Sutton, who has taught the students about Push and Pull and how different amounts of Force can affect how far an object can move. We have also learnt about Gravity and how the steepness of a ramp can affect how fast and far a toy car will go. The students have used the informal measurement of their hands to measure the distance the car travelled each time.
