Applied Learning

Welcoming back Year 7 and 8 for Term 4 has been such a joyous occasion, and what better occasion to return to school with a student DRIVEN project as a Passion Project.

What is a Passion Project?

Passion Projects (project based learning) is based on inquiry. Students need to develop a question related to their passion that they can research.  Simple questions that they can find the answer too easily are generally discouraged.

Inquiry questions should lend themselves to the creation of a project – a passion project – at the end. Projects can be media based (movie, slideshow, etc.), or something physical they build, design, or create.  Students at Henry Kendall High School have been encouraged this term to think about how they can display their creation, gift it or donate it.

Throughout the entire process of a Passion Project, students will be engaged in research, reading articles, planning through graphic organizers, writing, and reflecting – all integral parts of Stage 4 Technology Mandatory and “Designs, communicates and evaluates innovative ideas and creative solutions to authentic problems and opportunities”.

Students have also been afforded the opportunity to learn using a “Digital Booklet” to encourage and enhance their ICT skills. This has not taken away one of the highlights of deep learning and passion projects, students have been able to showcase their understanding of the 5 C’s and their CREATIVITY! We look forward to sharing with our Henry Kendall Community our Year 7 and 8 Passion Project CREATIONS later in Term 4. Stay tuned!!

The Applied Learning teaching TEAM are very much looking forward to see the marvellous creations and Passions of our Stage 4 students (Years 7 and 8).
