Year Advisers Report -

     Year 9

Year 9

Welcome Back! I cannot believe we have finally returned to face-to-face learning after 13 weeks of online learning. I know they was a few nerves about return and what the school would look like.

However, Year 9 have settled extremely well into the new routines at school. I know it is not easy, but they are to be commended on their effort and conduct over the past few weeks. I encourage the students to continue their great effort for the weeks to come.

During the early weeks of this term, we conducted our SRC interviews online. All applicants interviewed extremely well, although a tad nervous not only did they do the year proud they have done themselves proud. I am also extremely proud of them, and they will all do an outstanding job.

I would like to congratulate the following students who are the SRC members for 2022: Ava Trundle, Cooper Hood, Iona Jeannot and Jone Coetzee.

November is ‘New Ways’ month

This month, I am encouraging you to try something new!  Learning something new or getting involved in an activity that really absorbs and interests us is great for wellbeing. Keeping our brains active is not only good for us physically but it can help you feel you are flourishing as you see yourself make progress with a new skill, or just make you smile as you make a mess and decide to start again. Being playful and trying new things is important, as is remembering that it's OK not to get it right first time - change "I can't do it", into "I can't do it...yet!" Here are a few things you can try.

  • Get outside and observe the changes in nature around you.
  • Be creative. Cook, draw, write, paint, make or inspire.
  • Be curious. Learn about a new topic or an inspiring idea.
  • Find out something new about someone you care about.
  • Make a meal using a recipe or ingredient you’ve not tired before.

With a few more weeks to go in this term, I encourage Year 9 to keep up their excellent effort and conduct for the rest of the year.

Remember stay safe and be kind to one another.
