Year Advisers Report - Year 8

Year 8

It is hard to believe we are halfway through Term 4 already! The first few weeks were Home Based Learning, where Year 8 continued to work hard and show commitment to their studies.

As we did in Term 2, we had our Year Assemblies via Teams, this was a chance for many of the students to catch up and have a laugh and of course share crazy gifs! On the last online assembly we had a crazy hat/hair theme to celebrate the end of Home Based Learning and going back into school!

Returning to school, Year 8 have shown how versatile they are by going from Home Based Learning back to face-to-face learning so effortlessly. It was wonderful to see them back at school excited to see their friends and be back in the classroom.  There have been many changes they have had to adapt to including separate playground areas, masks in classrooms and different bell times. However, they have all adapted very well and understood it is required during this time.

I would like to congratulate our new SRC representatives, Ari Dunn, Leah Harrison, Angus Potter and great to see Caleb Perkins joining for another year. The process of nominating and completing the interviews was a little different this year due to Covid, but I am very proud of how well they all did and seeing how keen they are I know they will all do a fantastic job.

With a few weeks to go in Stage 4, a reminder to Year 8 to keep up the positive attitude, enjoy being back at school learning new skills and being with friends.

“The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.” —B.B. King
