Deputy Principal's Report

   Years 8, 10 & 12

Whilst Term 4 is nearing the end, our school is still exceptionally busy with many events, including the commencement of the HSC examinations next week. As a proud Deputy of our school, I’m in awe and extremely proud of the resilience, creativity and commitment demonstrated by our students and staff this year.

Year 12 HSC

Congratulations to Year 12 upon completing your final week of school as you move into your HSC examinations. All students are to be commended on their application and conduct during lock down and their return to classroom teaching two weeks ago. Best wishes for the weeks ahead. The HSC examination period is from Tuesday 9th November to Friday the 3rd December.

Celebrations for Year 12 are being planned under Covid guidelines, for the week after the completion of the HSC. Year 12 Graduation is to be held on Monday the 8th December. This will be a virtual ceremony, with Year 12 in attendance, and live streamed to parents and carers. In addition, on the 9th December it will be my pleasure to attend Year 12’s Formal conducted at The Entertainment Grounds. The night will be a wonderful event and a fitting way to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 12 cohort. Special thanks to Mrs Julie Starkey for her wonderful support as Year advisor over six years.

HSC results will be released on the 24 January 2022.

Stage 6 Preparation and Dinner Dance

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions the decision has been made to reduce the Stage 6 Preparation Program to the Taster Week and Make a Movie only. Parents that have paid for the program will receive information as to the process of a refund.

In addition , due to the setback of the HSC and associated events with Year 12 to the end of the term, the Year 10 Dinner Dance has had to be postponed. This was not a decision made easily, however the impact of the timing of Year 12 events had to be made the priority this year. Mr Backhouse spoke with Year 10 in regards to this decision last week.

Year 7 2022 Transition

Due to Covid, the transition program for Year 7 2022 looks very different for this year. Ms Sanki, Year 7 Advisor and I have virtually met with our new students in two ZOOM meetings, and answered many questions in regards to the transition to High School. I would like to acknowledge the ongoing commitment of both our Partner Schools,  Gosford and Point Claire in supporting the Transition Program resulting in a positive experience for all students. We look forward to meeting all students at Orientation Day on Thursday 9  December. Further information will be sent out this week.
