Book in a Day
We are very happy to announce that our Book in a Day Team at St. Peter’s College Cranbourne was awarded second place and $200 from Campion Books to spend on library books. This was judged by Clare Halifax from the publishers Scholastic.
Congratulations to our fine team:
James Cortese, Bianca Mercado, Nityasrii Mokanasundaram, Khanh Nguyen, Ruhani Kaushal, Alex Burd, Michelle Nguyen, Dhenu Vyas.
"I am very glad to let you know this year’s winner and place getters. Once again I am impressed with the stories but even more so the storytellers who have collaborated on these books in such arduous circumstances. Congratulations to all the short-listees - it is wonderful to see their imagination and creative powers at work. Well done to all the students, and their teachers!"
- A message from Clare Halifax
"The opening to this story made excellent use of descriptive prose that created a sense of place, an ominous moodiness, and of 'otherness’. This laid a foundation for the characters that were introduced. The vocabulary was sophisticated, and used to great effect."
- Review of A Rocky Election (by St. Peter’s Cranbourne students)
"Please pass on our congratulations to all the teams who competed in the competition. There can only be 3 winners but that does not take away from the collective effort that all the teams made. The idea is for the winning teams to be able to have some involvement in purchasing fiction books for their school library. Covid makes everything different, but I am sure the vouchers will be put to good use by the winning schools. Kudos to you and your schools for running a great competition and we are always proud to partner with you."
