MRPS presents...Disney's Aladdin Jr.

August 11 & 12 2020 at the Wendouree Centre for  Performing Arts

Every even year Miners Rest Primary School presents a school musical for students in Years One to Six. This opportunity enables the students to share their skills and passion for Visual Arts, Drama, Music and Dance.  The students play a significant role in the planning and preparation of the production and contribute by making sets, props, digital displays, costumes and makeup design, choreography and assist with prop and set organisation.

At Miners Rest Primary School, we believe that through these experiences the students develop their confidence, persistence, resilience, getting along and organisation.  The bi-annual production has been one of the most significant and memorable experiences for students departing Miners Rest Primary School, and we are consistently proud by what all students are able to achieve throughout their production journey.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to be part of this magnificent opportunity by promoting your business or service to the community in a way that you may not have considered in the past.  To sponsor this production, would mean greater costumes, building materials for props and sets, subsidised ticket sales for all enrolled students at both the school and kinder and greater advertising platforms.

We are offering a variety of packages both big and small that may suit the promotional needs of your company:

$400 Genie Package

Your logo on the promotional t-shirts of staff and students, logo on the program, posters and billboards, four tickets to view the production on a night of your choice and a thank you certificate of contribution.

Main Cast: Years Five & Six Auditions

All students in Years Five and Six have the opportunity to audition for any singing and speaking role in our production of Aladdin Jr.

The materials to prepare for the audition have been placed on our "Showbie" iPad application and will be rehearsed during Performing Arts class time. Children who don't have access to this technology platform have been given printed copies and more can be accessed by asking Mrs. Polson. All children will audition with the same Genie dialogue and a panel of teachers will work through the audition process at lunchtime with the children. Next week, we will begin our first audition process. Auditioning the girls on Tuesday and the boys at Wednesday lunchtime. Students auditioning need to ensure their names have been written down on the audition sign up sheets. If students are absent on their audition day, they will get the opportunity to audition before any final decisions have been made. Call backs for the role of the Genie will take place at Thursday lunchtime, with all call backs expected to perform the singing aspect of the audition "Friend Like Me."  Performing Arts class time will be reserved for audition preparation over the coming weeks.  It is really wonderful to see all of the children so enthusiastic and willing to give the audition process a go.
