SunSmart
From mid-August Victoria’s UV levels will be on the rise so please start checking the daily local sun protection times. The sun protection times are a forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology for the time of day UV levels are forecast to reach 3 or higher. At these levels, sun protection (hat, clothing, sunscreen, shade and, if practical, sunglasses) is recommended for all skin types.
Sun protection times are available via:
- the free SunSmart app
- the free SunSmart widget (add it to your school’s website)
- the Bureau of Meteorology website’s UV and sun protection page
- MyUV
Please don’t wait for term 4 to start protecting skin. Although hats are not compulsory until term 4, Cancer Council has recommended that hats should be worn now.
