Week 5

Great examples of student achievement, both within and beyond the school, have been celebrated this year, and these wonderful experiences continue.

Year 12 students will participate in HSC and Beyond Week from 9th – 13th of March. This will be a rewarding week for students as they participate in study skills, careers and wellbeing workshops at our school.

Congratulations to all students who competed in the Zone Swimming Carnival on February 24. All students who participated displayed discipline in their approach towards striving for their personal best. Congratulations to the Killara High School team who came 2nd this year.

Our Year 7 and Year 12 parent information evenings, along with our Chinese and Korean parent information evenings were well attended. Our school counsellors presented practical strategies about the importance of achieving a balance and managing stress. Thank you to all parents who attended and to staff who presented.

On Tuesday 3rd of March we welcomed Dr Kristy Goodwin to our school to share information about online behaviour management in relation to digital devices. Dr Goodwin’s insightful seminar was titled Raising Screenagers, and I wish to thank Mrs Ann Dixon for organising this event, in conjunction with our Killara Schools Partnership community.

I want to recognise the positive effort, courage and display of high citizenship of one of our Year 11 students, Harry Woog. Harry was involved in an incident where he and his friends contributed to the saving of multiple lives on Newport Beach recently. Harry and his friends were involved in rescuing some younger children and two adults from a dangerous rip. Harry’s efforts have been recognised in the media, under the banner “High school boys rescue children from a rip at Newport beach”.
