Barrier PSSA Blues Dinner
Congratulations to the following students who were nominated for an award at the annual Barrier PSSA Blues Dinner last Friday 16th November;
- Madelaine Baxter
- Harper Bromson
- Jordis Green
- Capri Paech
- Trea Paech.
Jordis Green was nominated for a President's Commendation for her representation during the 2018 NSWPSSA Basketball Carnival.
Jordis lived up to many of the high expectations she was set for the state basketball carnival. She used her excellent natural abilities and great timing to establish a great defensive presence in the key. Jordis played with increased passion and focus in all games ensuring the opposition had no easy shots. She was relentless in blocking and changing shots that kept Barrier competitive in many games and victorious in two. Jordis was very handy on the offensive end often pulling down vital rebounds and putting the ball back up for many valuable points. Jordis did herself and Barrier proud with her improved focus that helped guide the team to two wins and an 11th place finish.
Capri Paech was nominated for the Geoff Goulding Barrier Spirit Award for her representation during the 2018 NSWPSSA Basketball Carnival.
Capri stepped up her game by remaining calm and following instructions in every situation. She could be relied upon to be in the right place at the right time often getting rebounds and scoring vital points for the team. Capri understood the importance of using her team mates with a different skill set and was always willing to pass the ball when needed. Capri performed the one percenters well in every game that gave us the advantages we needed in the close games. Her skills definitely improved but her basketball brain was the key to her improvement during her time with the Barrier basketball team.

Barrier PSSA Life Membership Award
Rarely does a teacher's journey with Barrier PSSA begin when they are 12 years old. In 1991 Mrs Hogg, who was a very talented hockey player, began her Barrier journey, as part of the Barrier team in the State carnival.
Mrs Hogg often speaks of the wonderful experience that she had at this carnival. She even keeps her Barrier jumper in a special 'memories' box at her house.
Mrs Hogg is now the President of the Barrier PSSA!! Her sole purpose in this organisation is to provide wonderful opportuities to students who show aq talent in their chosen sport.
Congratulations Mrs Hogg on your Barrier PSSA Life Membership award.
