Sped Corner

Hello Firestone!

I hope everyone is well rested from our break and having a smooth start to the 2nd half. Over the break I had time to let the first half of my first year sink in. What an amazing time it has been. I am so excited and appreciative of everyone that works here. The students are very lucky to have you all. These “good” feelings led me to think about next steps. How can we raise the bar and even be better? It got me thinking about my role and what I do. So many times I am able to identify with what is going on with a particular student, but forget to help you with the accommodations piece, which is truly the harder piece. Last week I came across a website that I would like to share with you all as a way of “remembering” that accommodations piece. It is a link to an Autism site, but it is much more than that and much of it can be applied to all students. This website offers a lot of good suggestions and even better, free pintables, in many areas including: behavior, motor function, and emotional regulation. Take some time to look at it, to share it with others, and hopefully it will inspire all of us to be even better than we already are.
