Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Camp

By Rachael Banfield

High ropes, leap of faith, archery, giant swing, canoeing, initiatives, minute to win it, campfire with Mr Hosking’s No.1 songs, you name it!  That’s how exciting 2019 Year 8 Camp was.

For the first time ever, this year was the first, and certainly not last, MINUTE TO WIN IT! All six teams participated in the ten-round challenge, including pass the tennis ball by the neck, toilet-paper mummifying and the face oreo event. By the end, teams five and six were in a tie, and the tiebreaker was assorting coloured skittles into different jars the fastest. Overall, the ‘super sixes’ ended up winning a huge box of Favourites chocolates.

This was just one of the many fun experiences I had at camp. I reformed some friendships that faded after leaving Primary School and formed new friendships with other people in my activity group.

My personal favourite experience from camp was doing the scavenger hunt on the last day. This included word riddles, low ropes while holding a cup of water, stacking blocks on the high ropes course, identifying what country each flag is from and many other different activities. After the scores were calculated there ended up being 9 points between the teams that came first and second. Once again, the super sixes ended up winning! Team four came second this time.

I would like to thank all the teachers who came on the Year 8 camp and made it the great time it was.

I would also like to thank my Mum and Dad for allowing me to go on this camp. Thank you!
