Principal's Message

Hang In There

It has been said many time throughout the last 18 months to just -hang in there and it will be over soon. Little did we all realise how long and how difficult this virus would be on our personal or professional lives. Personally, I was quite upbeat in the early Lockdowns but as time has gone on it has become  more challenging.

I think this is a view we all share and I think it does us all good to stop some times and reflect on what a great job we have done. Our community members have dealt with managing the home situation, keeping our children focused and educationally engaged and financially making ends met the best they can in the current climate. These are huge demands on your resilience and coping mechanisms and you should all be very proud of your achievements. Congratulate yourselves and move ahead one day at a time.

Remote Learning

Today (Wednesday 1st September) it was announce that all schools in Victoria will remain closed for the rest of Term 3- Not what we really wanted to hear!

We will continue with the Remote Learning schedule that has been operating at Rollins. Please try to organise for your child to attend the morning Webex meetings if possible, as this is where instructions for the day will be given. Remember , above all, look after yourselves and your family and just do the best you can in this trying times. There are limits to what can be done and it is so so important that you look after the emotional wellbeing of everyone in your care.

Additional Activities Lockdown

Just a reminder to keep tuning into the daily Webex schedule. This is a great connection for students with their teacher and allows for clarification of the days activities.

I would like to personally thank Tim Callaghan for the extra "mile" he has gone during Lockdown. He has organised  Storytime (daily from 11am on Youtube), Kahoot (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:40 on WebEx ) and a weekend Lego Competition plus a Green and Gold celebration day. All these events have been extremely popular and have helped both the children and parents through a most diffivcult time. Many thanks to Tim for his dedication and commitment to our Rollins community.

All the Best

As previously advised Monique Dumont( Grade 1) is expecting her first baby later this year and will be taking Maternity Leave as from Week 2 Term 4.

I am very happy to confirm that Owen Dunipace has been appointed to fill this vacancy until the end of 2021. Many parents will know Owen who is well known to our staff and many parents.

We wish Monique the very best as she awaits the birth of her new little one.
