Thank you to all families for their support of this year’s Virtual Hoppet.  It is great to have so many students participating and we really appreciate families sharing their achievement.  If you haven’t already done so and would like to have your child’s achievement posted on the Hoppet website, please send us in your child’s achievement (distance and time in HH:MM:SS) to mount.beauty.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

We really appreciate the tremendous effort all families are putting in to assist students with remote learning.  As announced yesterday, all schools will continue to deliver remote learning through until the end of Term 3. Tomorrow, we will have another ‘drive-by’ collection of learning materials.  Where possible, please attend during the following times, according to your child’s surname: A-M 2.00 – 2.30pm and N-Z 2.30 – 3.00pm.

The recent release of NAPLAN results has seen Victorian schools celebrating their continued achievement, improving on the results of 2019.  This has been reflected in our own setting with strong relative growth (from Year 3 to 5), particularly in the areas of reading, spelling, grammar/punctuation.  This is a fantastic result and a wonderful testament to the collective and focussed work by our staff and students, which has been so strongly supported by parents/carers throughout periods of remote learning.   Individual results will be sent home tomorrow.

At the time of writing, a massive $4538.63 had been raised by students, to support the Heart Foundation.  This is a fantastic effort!   In preparation for next week’s Jump Rope ‘Jump Off’, students are encouraged to make the most of the spring sunshine to get active and practise their skipping each day. This event will now be held as a remote activity, and we encourage all families to get involved.  Steph will be sending out Webex invitations next Tuesday so students and families can join in a group skipping event!  We would love to share some photos of this event in the newsletter, so please upload your favourite skipping photo onto SeeSaw if you are happy to share this with us!   Any students who missed out on borrowing a skipping rope, can collect one this Friday from the ‘Drive By’.

Next term, the Dental Van will be visiting to provide free check-ups to students (Week commencing 29 November, 2021).  If you have not already done so and would like your child to participate, please return the Dental forms when you pick up this week’s learning pack.  If you require an additional form, we can also provide this on Friday.

Lee Couch, who has been working with Year 5 & 6 students, has shared this link ‘Sounds of the Outback’ https://youtu.be/nfngyN0EHPg  as a tool you may wish to use as a family for a mindfulness activity by focusing on the images and listening to the sounds.  The older students will be able to relate this to the concept of Dadirri- deep listening to Country and relate this to the 14 elements of Wayapa.

See you tomorrow at the ‘drive-by’!
