Religious Education

On Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop, the patron saint of our Parish. A wonderful piece of artwork was installed at the front of our church along with a wooden bench. It's a beautiful prayer space  where people are welcome to sit, pray  and enjoy some contemplative time.

Students at our school also created some of their own beautiful artwork honouring Mary MacKillop.

In honour of Saint Mary of the Cross' Feast Day, we wanted to follow her example of helping those in need by holding a Food Drive, luckily this occurred on Thursday, before the dreaded Lockdown, and our amazing community came through once again!

A HUGE...

.....to all families who generously donated food for our Food Drive.

The students' (and some teachers)  definitely had their competitive juices flowing trying to create the longest food line. 1ES set the standard first with 92 cans, 1MP were desperate to overtake them but fell short by only afew cans. 3BB thought they had outdone both Year 1 classes with a solid collection of 89 cans, their disappointment was short-lived with the late inclusion of Liam's donations, their total increased to 94 cans. 3BB had the icy-pole firmly in their grasp for most of the day until the last class (who needed the help of their buddies to carry all their cans) produced an outstanding total of 112 cans. Congratulations to Prep JM for their donation of 112 cans of food.

St Vinnie's were definitely overwhelmed with the school's generosity and had to sort and store an incredible total of 1,334 food items. St Mary of the Cross is definitely working in our midst.

A big shout-out to our amazing Faith and Social Justice Leaders Jack I, Clancy L, Arli M and Hunter M who did a sensational job helping with the organisation and running of the event. Carting 1,334 cans from the hall to the church is no mean feat!

Once again, thankyou to all families who generously contributed to our food drive and may we be inspired to be like Mary MacKillop and "Never see a need without doing something about it!"
