New Newsletter Format

It’s exciting to be (softly) launching our new newsletter format which will hopefully make our news more accessible, interactive and exciting. Take some time to browse through our first fully digital newsletter to familiarise yourself with how it looks.

We will still continue to publish newsletters approximately twice per term with the latest and most interesting news.

Remote learning and return to school

We would like to take this opportunity to let our students know how much we are missing them onsite and look forward to when they return. Thank you to all of our students for their ability to adapt to the remote learning environment once again during the Covid-19 situation. This has been a wonderful reminder of their resilience and we were pleased with their progress and commitment to learning on line.

We would also like to thank our parents and carers for the ongoing support you have provided to your child/ children and trust in our school and its operations through this period. As we continue remote learning please remember to reach out to school personnel if you require further academic or wellbeing support through your child’s House Leader, Year Level Coordinator (Year 7) or Wellbeing team.

Work habit ratings

Our work habits ratings for this cycle are now available on Compass. These have naturally been impacted by remote learning and teachers have taken this into account when assessing each area. In some cases an area may be 'Not Assessed' and this indicates that a teacher does not have enough evidence to accurately provide a rating. 

Please note that the attendance figure reported in work habits has changed this year

The figure represents attendance of a student  only for the six week cycle. It also only represents time where the student was present in the class not when they were participating in extracurricular activities such as sport. For our senior students, this figure is not indicative of whether the attendance requirements are being met.   Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to the respective teacher if you have a query about a specific rating. You can email them using the contact function in Compass. Alternatively, for general queries about your child’s engagement at school, you can contact the respective House Leader or Year 7 Manager.

Premiers’ reading challenge 2021

A quick reminder to Year 7 and 8 students and their parents/carers that the Premiers’ reading challenge ends on the 17 September 2021.

The Premiers’ reading challenge encourages Year 7 students to read 15 books (10 from the reading list and 5 choice books) and Year 8 students to read 10 books (5 from the reading list and 5 choice books). Now is the perfect time to access the reading challenge website and update your reading records.

Steps to update your reading records:

Visit the reading challenge website
Login using your edupass (student code and compass password)
On your dashboard you will see the books that you have read or currently reading
Simply add any other books that you read over the year by selecting search books in the side menu then add to my reading list.

When you complete the Premiers’ reading challenge, you will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Premier. We will also hold a special morning tea for students who meet the challenge. This year with more than 12,000 titles on the Premiers’ reading challenge list, there really is a book for everyone.
