Assistant Principals

Ash Buchanan (2021) has researched benefit mindset which outlines that we are not separate individuals going it alone, that we are interdependent beings who belong to an ecosystem where every one of us has a role to play in creating positive and healthy conditions no matter where our interest, passions or expertise lie. Using our knowledge of a growth mindset, where we believe that we can grow, it is more than every important that we all take responsibility for transforming how we come to understand our place in the world and realise our potential in a way that affirms life and supports others with doing the same.  To reiterate a message from Term 2: we would be best placed to use benefit mindset. I remind you that each of us is an active, integral component of our RSC community of multi-talented people. This ‘community of life’ as Buchanan describes can be further fostered through developing an awareness of our surrounds and nurturing existing relationships. During the past few weeks’ life continues to be somewhat challenging. However, despite these challenges and adversity, we have all learnt to become adaptable, flexible, and nimble. So, continue to pay it forward and broaden and build your benefit mindset, extend a warm hello to support those people around, do a random act of kindness and you too will benefit!

A snapshot of the past few weeks…

  • Year 12 students are amid finalising their assessments. Their resilience, personal growth, and increased determination to responsibly engage in their studies despite adversity has been very encouraging and staff are very proud of their progress.
  • New COVID restrictions have impacted on and will continue to do so with calendar events and specialised programs such as The Central Australia Tours, Work Experience, and musical performances due to be rescheduled or unfortunately cancelled.
  • The STEM building project is slowly moving ahead with Clark Hopkins Clarke (CHC) developing the architectural designs and finishes. It is a very exciting project that will provide high end facilities for our students.

Coming up…

  • Progress reports and parent teacher interviews will be rescheduled, and notification will be provided via Compass.

Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to our hard-working staff who have been very ‘gritty’ in persevering with technology, being agile, supporting and caring for our students. I have said this before and repeat it again: RSC students are very fortunate to have such professional teachers and support staff that care, nurture and support.
