Senior School Learning

Visual Art - Patterns in Nature

Students have been learning about Mandalas and how to create patterns using natural materials such as leaves, flowers, pebbles and sticks. Here are some beautiful examples from our creative students.

Science - Volcanoes

Students have been learning about volcanoes to understand how volcanoes change the Earth's surface. Their learning task involved an experiment using some common household items to make their own mini volcano.

Year 3 and 4

Students of 3/4 have been learning about Poetry and Figurative language. In this particular task they had to use their rhyming skills to re-invent  the rap song lyrics of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Students were asked to create two verses. Once they had written their verses, they then made their own rap video with the beat of the song in the background. Please enjoy reading some of the students creative writing pieces.

Year 5 and 6

Well it has been another busy week in Grade 5/6. The students should be so proud of their transition into remote learning (again)! It has been great to check in with everyone on our morning Google Meets where we have had the chance to have a chat, see each other (even if it is virtually) and compete for some house points.

We have also begun our new topic “Our Place in Space”. It has only been 2 weeks in to our new topic but we have learnt so much already. We have discovered how our universe was created and learnt many new content vocabulary words such as nebula, stellar and terrestrial. Students have been able to demonstrate their new knowledge in many different digital platforms such as Google Classroom, Padlet, MIRO and Google Slides.

During Maths, we have been learning many different multiplication strategies in order to find the strategy that works for us. It has been important to teach students different multiplication strategies in the hope they find the right one for them, which will assist them in answering multiplication equations. Some of the methods we have used have included the lattice method, vertical method, drawing arrays and the Japanese dot method.

We would like to congratulate all 5/6 students for the resilience they have shown towards remote learning and how they continue to display excellence in the quality of work they are producing. Keep it up guys!
