From the School Leadership Team,

From Mr. Chant,

Principal

Welcome to our weekly newsletter and I hope that everyone is managing this extended lockdown period and remembering to stay as connected as possible with your families, friendship groups and colleagues. Each Sunday night my family has a Zoom get together and for my parents (who live in the country) they love the chance to see and hear their grandchildren and share in the news of their week. Organising and assisting my parents is a challenge, but the smiles and laughter is well worth the connection challenges each Sunday.

A reminder to everyone to join and watch our weekly online assembly that is prepared by our student leaders and is made available to view at a time that suits your children and family.

Last week there was considerable “interest” in a local event that has prompted a request from DHHS, local government and the school for those in our community to get tested for the Delta strain, check the website for the exposure sites and for everyone to follow the clear directions around this isolation period and adhere to the 6 reasons to be out of your home.

The State Government initiated an essential worker permit system this week. These forms require employers to complete relevant sections, provide work schedules and contacts within the organisation. This has caused some families considerable concern and challenge, but remember that our school staff are only ensuring compliance and must not be subjected to conversations and hostility that heighten everyone’s levels of distress.

We have had to postpone our Book Fair.  Information will be provided as soon as it is available.

Next week you will notice some significant changes to the online learning timetable and the manner in which classes are conducted for the students learning from home. These improvements are planned to come into play on Wednesday. We have made these changes to provide greater online connection between classmates and the teachers, making sure all programs can operate in an even more effective manner. The valuable feedback from our students, families and the staff have supported and driven these modifications. Things have certainly progressed from our very first lockdown day last year and we will continue to update and improve our work in this space.

Students from years 4-6 participated in the Attitudes to School Survey yesterday. This is an opportunity for students to have a voice and provide valuable feedback regarding their learning and school environment. We will share some of the results with our school community when it becomes available to us and use this data for future planning throughout our school. Thank you to all of the students who participated and staff for conducting the survey.

Please remember to complete the Parent/Caregiver/Guardian online survey if you received an email on 9th August requesting you to do so (random selection of families).  This survey assists us with future planning. It closes on September 3.

French Director.

Voici la vidéo réalisée à l’école : Thank you .

Dear parents and carers,

New timetables

Online learning is a challenge that requires a strong commitment from all of us.  We are aware of the fatigue it may create and our teachers are continuously searching for new ways to improve the program and boost our social connection within the community.

With that in mind, as of Wednesday our timetables with be amended to strengthen the cohesion between our programs and introduce a more user-friendly schedule for the students.  In addition, recess sessions will be open for all, to give the children an opportunity to connect with their friends in a fun environment.

Thank you!

I wish to thank all the parents who took the time to write gratitude messages to their child’s

teacher.  Do not hesitate to ask your child if they would enjoy filming a small video for their teacher to thank them.  Some of these will be published on our school website.

Here is the video that we made at school: Thank you. It may inspire your child to make their own.

Book Week

CJC is celebrating Book Week next week in a virtual format.  Our teachers have prepared

some literary surprises throughout the week.  Here is a great activity for the weekend:  Choose your book character and prepare your costume for Book Week dress up day!
