YEAR 9 CAMP

What an adventure!

The students in Year 9 were able to get away for a 3-day action packed camp in between lockdowns and enjoy the outdoors and experience things in a way like no other.

Over 160 students went to The Summit and created great memories and bonded with new friends. The weather was broadcasted to rain all three days, but Mother Nature was kind and granted us with more sunshine than we expected.

Ms Brinkley and Ms Trinh are so proud of you all. You faced your fears, you pushed your boundaries and you went all in.

Well done, Year 9!

Here are a few pieces written by our students about their experience.

Year 9 camp was a very fun camp, probably the best camp we have done at school so far.

We were separated across the whole of year 9 which was good when we did the activities, especially the team building activities such as the snowy river challenge and the mud run.

We all came together and helped each other through the activities by supporting and encouraging one another.

The camp is designed to help your face your fears and to learn to do things, so you don't regret not doing them later.

The leap of faith activity was quite frightening once you were standing on the platform but as soon as you took the jump you knew that it was worth doing the activity in the end.

Overall, camp was a great experience!

This year camp ran a little different from normal as we had only 3 days at the camp, and we went with the whole year level.

In my perspective this was a bit hectic, but I think it made our year level become closer.

In some ways I loved how our groups were completely randomized as we got to talk to new people.

If the camp did go for a few extra days we would have been able to do more activities, but I had lots of fun even in the cold weather and overall it was a great few days of camp.

I had heard so many great things about year 9 camp but never realised how good it actually was until I went on it.

There were so many fun as well as challenging activities to push me to find my limit and then push past it, and I had a blast doing so.

This was by far the best camp I have ever been on, and would strongly recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. - Johnny Valavanis

“Throughout my time at The Summit, I experienced many challenges. Whether they were mental or physical challenges, I always aimed to give everything a go, even if it made me very uncomfortable, which many of the activities at The Summit did.

Through my experiences at The Summit, I learnt about always giving everything a go and pushing yourself further than you think you can go, as everything is a mind game that is challenging your abilities.

I very much enjoyed my time at The Summit and would have loved to have been able to stay longer or even go back.” – Arjun Mehta
