Children’s Book Week
This week we celebrated Book Week, the theme of which was ‘New Worlds, Old Worlds, Other Worlds’. It was fabulous to see so many boys dressed as their favourite book character for the Book Week parade. We also welcomed our Kindergarten students to our parade, which made the morning extra special. The staff also joined in with the fun, dressing up in a Harry Potter theme.
Japanese Assembly
Last Friday we held a special assembly to award those students who competed in
the Olympic Activity for Years 3 and 4. Our students presented their self-introduction speeches and Caroline from the Hobart City Council was there in person to present and award prizes and hand out participation certificates. The awards were for the students who came first, second or third in the kendama or thong throwing events. These boys were excited to receive either a thong key ring or an actual kendama.
Grade 6 Excursion: Festival of Bright Ideas
Amelia Daun
Recently our Grade 6 students attended the Festival of Bright Ideas. This is a very popular exhibition where students get to learn through hands-on experiences about a wide range of STEM areas. Our boys enjoyed a wide range of activities including playing with robots, looking through microscopes, touching sea creatures, observing the density of liquids, and witnessing an exciting science show involving fire, rockets and salt & vinegar chips!
We thank Miss Mikayla Lack for organising the excursion and Mrs Julie Stokes, Mrs Julene Bednell, Mrs Katrina Berry and Mrs Jocelyn Huigsloot for coming with us.
Mass with Fr Jesse
6L celebrated a class Mass with Father Jesse and Sr Monica on Tuesday. This was an opportune time to pause and pray and for the boys to participate in a small liturgical setting to learn more about the Mass. Miss Lack said the boys were very respectful during the Mass and shared some heartfelt prayers of petition for others in our community, embracing thoughts around racism, COVID, family, and those who are struggling with illness.
