LIBRARY NEWS

Book Week - Friday 8th September. Come dressed as a book character, bring the book if you have it. We will start the day with a parade in the courtyard and then classes will complete some book activities with each other. The staff have their book and character costumes organised! Parents and younger children can dress up too.

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier's Reading Challenge is in its final days. It finishes on Friday 8th September but all books need to be uploaded by the day before so that I can verify and complete the challenge for the students.

So far we have 10 students that have completed the challenge and our students have read a total of 1448 books. This is fantastic.

If you need your child's log in details, please email me and I can send them to you.

Scholastic Book Club - Issue 6

Issue 6 will be the second issue where we have QR codes on a handful of books. If you don’t know about them yet, we are making the catalogues more interactive for parents and students.

Upon scanning the code, parents will be taken to a page which will display some, or all of the following:

Trailer for the book
Chapter excerpts to ‘try before you buy’
Information about the author/illustrator
Related books/books from the series

In addition to the QR codes, you will notice we are adding things like crosswords and find-a-word puzzles within the catalogue. Again, this should create more interaction and interest for the students.

Most of the Book Week books are ready for you to read together.
