Thriving as a Community

Our values of Grace, Respect, Integrity, Courage

I was invited to attend a meeting recently with the Federal Treasurer, the Honourable Dr Jim Chalmers, as he addressed a group of leaders from the Tarneit and Wyndham Vale area. He said that the country's future lies in high-growth communities like ours. This highlights what we already know about the opportunities we have to embrace bold chances, pursue growth, and serve each other in this remarkable community. I encourage each of us, to accept the responsibility that comes with these opportunities.

Through working together within our College and wider community we will prosper collectively and leave a legacy for future generations. We all play a crucial role in shaping the future, and our opportunity in growing our College across two campuses will be remembered and cherished for years to come.

I have also been invited to address the Tarneit Business Association at their annual Awards Night. This is another great opportunity to showcase GNLC and to be active within the community to support each other. We share the vision of the Tarneit Business Association in aspiring to nurture a thriving and cohesive community, making Tarneit a place where dreams are realised and aspirations flourish.

While we continue to grow in number and plan our second campus, growth for the sake of growth is not our focus. We remain committed to our mission and the very reason for our existence. At Good News Lutheran College (GNLC), our culture and focus on student well-being are grounded in our values of Grace, Respect, Integrity, and Courage and a genuine care for one another. We understand that each person is uniquely gifted and has a place in our community, a belief stemming from the knowledge that we are all creations of God. In recognising the human condition and embracing our mistakes, we foster an environment of forgiveness, grace, healing, and growth. At GNLC we want everyone to feel welcomed, cherished, and valued as they find their sense of belonging.

We are passionate about cultural inclusivity and understand the value and importance of embracing different cultures and promoting an environment where everyone feels welcome and accepted. By actively engaging with families and students from various cultural backgrounds, we can develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of different customs, languages, and belief systems. This promotes mutual respect and harmony among our College community.

The true strength of our community lies in its people. We are blessed to have an exceptional College Board, a dedicated leadership team, and an extraordinary staff who go above and beyond to bring out the best in our students. Together, we are well-positioned to continue nurturing and educating our young scholars, empowering them to become well-rounded citizens capable of making a positive impact on the world.

Success takes on various forms for everyone. Our role as educators is to provide the avenues and opportunities for students to discover their passions and realise their dreams. Every day, I feel blessed and honoured to play a part in shaping the future leaders of our country, helping them become the best versions of themselves.

Looking ahead, we stand on the cusp of yet another thrilling phase of our development. In 2024, we will inaugurate the 'Farmhouse Kinder,' a facility catering to early education for children aged 3 to 4. Its name pays homage to the original structure that stood on the land when it was purchased, a testament to our cherished history.

Thank you again for the privilege of being part of Good News Lutheran College. May we continue to thrive as a community, united in purpose, and driven by a shared vision of excellence.
