This week I was lucky enough to get an insight into the classroom of 7A’s Textiles class, which is their technology elective for the term. In Textiles, they are designing and creating their own banners to take home or hang around the classroom.

They first do their design on a piece of paper, then they embroider it onto a piece of fabric that they have cut into a triangular banner shape already.

I had the pleasure of getting to talk to some of the students and get their opinions about this class! I asked them each 3 questions, and these were their responses:

How do you find this subject so far?

Jorjia:I find it pretty good, and I like learning the different techniques in textiles.

Summer: I like how I can be creative and draw stuff in this subject.

Student 3:Its interesting because I get to design things

What activity/unit are you most excited to complete?

Jorjia:I am excited to make our buntings later on in the term.

Summer:My bunting, as I am enjoying getting to be creative and design it.

Student 3: Doing the design activities and getting to be creative

Would you be likely to choose this as an elective in the future?

Jorjia:Yes I would, as I like the opportunities it provides me

Summer: Yes, because I want to use the sewing machines in year 9!

Student 3: Probably not, as it is not my favourite, and I would prefer to do cooking as my technology elective

I also got the opportunity to look at the awesome work these Year 7s are doing, and their incredible designs, and I also got the chance to get some photos too! Keep up the great work 7A!
