Career & Pathways News

Subject Selection

It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the Careers & Pathways world at Wantirna College, with subject selection in full swing!  Our Year 8s were provided with dedicated subject selection interviews on Friday 28 July, which allowed them to consider their program and the electives offered at Year 9 and 10 in our combined classes.

The Senior Centre was buzzing on Wednesday 2 August, when all Year 9 and 10 students attended (many with their parents) to choose their programs for 2024.  For our Year 10s, this involved considering the options that will see them through the remainder of their secondary schooling, with the choice of VCE, VCE-VM Hybrid and our VM SBAT & SWL options.  Subject selection is continuing in Explore over the next couple of weeks, with Year 11s choosing their subjects for their final year of schooling in 2024.

Final preferences need to be submitted by Tuesday 22 August.  If any students need assistance, please contact Mrs Jessie Dennison or Mr Tim Knowles.

VTAC - Yr 12

For our Year 12 students, our VTAC registration assembly was held this week, with all students jumping online to register their details to create a VTAC account.  Students should now be in a position to start submitting some preferences.  They need to ensure that they have submitted an application and paid their $55 fee by 28 September to ensure that they are considered for courses they put in.  Preferences can be changed until 13 December.

Tertiary Open Days

Over the next month, most institutions will be opening their doors for prospective students to come on site and see what they have to offer. We strongly encourage all Year 12 students to attend Open Days of any institutions they are interested in applying for, so that they can ensure they are finding a good fit for them.  Year 10s and 11s are also encouraged to head along if there are any questions they have or if they would like to start their exploration early.

Attached is a document with an overview of Open Days, their dates and times.  There is also some information about how to get the most out of Open Days.
