                         PARENTING TIP FROM

 I remember worrying a lot when I was a child.

A lot of my concerns, however, were beyond my control: whether someone liked me or not, mistakes I’ve made, or what might happen in the future.

Knowing how horrible and disempowering it feels to be constantly worrying, I have made it a point to teach my own children about a circle of control. 

I explain that if something is outside their circle of control, it doesn’t help to worry. Worrying over things we can’t control only makes us feel powerless.

But we can control how we manage our worries. We can treat ourselves with kindness, share what’s on our minds, and choose our responses and actions.

This week, we’re sharing the My Circle of Control: Worry poster, a gentle reminder for children on how to separate manageable worries from those that are better off released. 

This poster makes a great conversation starter, and it’s a visual reminder that can be displayed in your child’s bedroom or your classroom. Take a look!
