The following week Solway will be holding a Book Week Dress up day on Wednesday 23 August.  A parade will be held at 9am in the morning for parents to come and watch. On this day students will participate in art and craft activities linked to books nominated in this year’s Children’s Book Council Awards.

In the afternoon, students in years 3-6 will be attending a presentation from R.A Spratt the author of Nanny Piggins, Shockingly Good Stories and Friday Barnes.  We are looking forward to a wonderful week of activities to celebrate good literature and our wonderful Solway readers! Please look out for a notice to follow.

Book in a Day

Last Thursday, 8 of our year 6 students participated in the annual Book in a Day competition. This competition raises much needed funds for research into childhood cancer.  Students were at school bright and early at 8am to begin their challenge, and after a well-deserved pizza dinner they submitted their book ‘Christmas at the Zoo’ at 8pm. Judging will take place in November, thereafter the students book will be added to a digital library for children in hospitals around Australia to access. Congratulations to our incredible students on their fantastic commitment to their learning and a worthy cause.
