Subject selection season is one of my favourite times of the School calendar.
Characteristically, students are aspirational and full of hope; it is a time of developing academic self-concept and shaping expectation. However, for some, it can be a time of uncertainty. My advice to students is to make the best use of Semester Two. Practice how you want to be now, applying yourself consistently supports a seamless transition to Stage 6. Dr George Cooney and Dr John DeCourcy (Data Strategy, September 2016) advise, “balancing interest, challenge and realism gives the best chance of positive outcomes within school and beyond.”
I extend my congratulations to Mr Matthew Frazer and Key Learning Area’s for their work with Year 10 and look forward to helping Year 8 and 9 this Friday. Please feel free to contact me if I can support your child in selecting their course preferences.
