Mathematics

Semester 2 in Maths

Year 7 to Year 9 students are currently studying the topic of Measurement. Year 7 students are in the middle of the famous “Backyard Assignment”. Students have designed their own gardens using an ‘app’, where they were also required to keep a budget whilst designing their backyard. The purpose of this, is to connect their learning to real life using design and keeping to budgets. The next part of the assignment is to build their model based on their designs and scale it up. We are very excited to see all the backyard designs. This assignment is due on Friday 4 August.

“I have done the design and made some blueprints. It has been enjoyable so far.

I need to build the pergola, the furniture i need program the circuits for my backyard lights, I need to make a watertight pool that can be filled, I need more wood glue and lolly sticks and a small plant that could be used as a miniature replica of a palm tree. I also need to plan a suitable spot where the circuit would be hidden and wouldn't get waterlogged by the nearby swimming pool.”
