Captains' Corner

Charlise Clark Dalglish and Chloe Wilkins, Sports Captains

The highlight of Week 2 was undoubtedly the Interhouse Athletics Carnival. All students from Years 7 to 12 showcased their determination and passion in both the track and field events throughout the whole day. While there was spirited competition for House points, everyone came together to cheer for their peers and encourage the efforts for every participant. Vibrant colours and costumes filled the stands during the morning war-cry, creating an electric atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of the day.

One of the highlights of the day was the introduction of new events such as the Clayfield Gift race and mixed relay. The Clayfield Gift allowed the top students of each age group to let their light shine and compete to the best of their abilities. A shoutout to Sharie Rainbow who was the first winner of this race. Similarly, the mixed relay was a crowd favourite, as it allowed both boys and girls across all ages to unite together.

If anything, the Athletics Carnival proved that our College is gifted with extraordinary athletes that will do us proud at the QGSSSA Athletics Carnival on Thursday 14 September. We strongly encourage all students to attend athletics training with Meet 1 coming up next week on Friday 4 August. Of course, we will need all our amazing spectators to support and encourage our athletes - so everyone, please get keen and bring your loudest voices!
