End of Semester Music Concert

Our Instrumentalists

I’ve played the saxophone for two and a half years and was one of the students who participated in the instrumental music concert hosted twice each year. I performed two songs in a woodwind ensemble that I had been working on since the start of the year.

The pieces I played at the concert with my ensemble were ‘March’ and ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’- both by Tchaikovsky. Both are also considered difficult pieces, and I was thrilled to show my friends and family what I had accomplished.

Before performing, feelings of extreme nervousness are always present, but afterwards the student always just bubbles with pride and joy of what they’ve accomplished  and can’t wait till next semester’s concert.

The concert had numerous items, and after getting feedback from family and friends, all of the items were thoroughly enjoyed.

The concert built confidence in every student who performed, and it was marvellous to see nervous students really shine out there on the stage. I remember one performer who was to be performing a vocal solo, who was incredibly nervous before hand. When her time to perform came, she did absolutely stunning, and the audience really enjoyed it. To see the personal satisfaction and confidence the student gained after her success was amazing, as well.

When the end of term comes around, my peers and I always look forward to the concert. It’s a lovely opportunity to perform what you’ve practised so hard on in front of peers, and to listen, enjoy, and be proud of the other musicians.
