Celebrating Success

Celebrating Success

As we conclude the term and reflect on the semester’s work, it is a wonderful opportunity for the college to celebrate the many successes that our students have achieved.

As a school community it is vitally important that we celebrate our success. Good schools recognize the outstanding events that students accomplish, both inside and outside of the college. Watching students grow and realise their goals is one of the key reasons many of the staff of the college began working in education, myself included. The recognition of students fosters strong relationships among students, families, the college, and the community and creates a positive school culture where students feel valued.

I want to take this opportunity to highlight 3 areas in which the college uses to acknowledge our students successful outcomes.

Academic Excellence Awards and Principal Awards

There are a number of students who continually work well in class and with their peers and their teachers throughout the semester. They have performed well in their studies thus gaining Achievement Certificates. Those who have earned a number of outstanding results in three or more units of study gain an Academic Excellence certificate which will be recognized at our annual Awards ceremony at the end of the year.

Students who receive five commendations or more over the semester receive a Principal’s award, which results in them being invited to attend a free excursion planned for early Term 3.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work of all the teachers throughout the semester. They have worked together to plan engaging and purposeful lessons that have helped students gain these achievements.

Whole School Assembly

On Tuesday 19 June 2018 we conducted a whole school assembly with the theme being “Celebrating Success”. The feedback received of the assembly from both students and staff was very positive.

Many successes were highlighted and in particular in the areas of  the successful transition to the new vertical team structure, the college’s inaugural overseas trip to Borneo, the performance of our students in Junior Mathematics during Semester 1 , the performance of the college’s Pierre de Coubertin Award recipient Taylor Andrews of Year 12, the depth of quality and the sheer number of students involved in all 3 of our mid-year Music concerts was outstanding, the number of our students who received perfect or near perfect attendance and the successes both our intra and inter school sporting team

I congratulate all of these students once again and I look forward to celebrate the accomplishments of other’s later in the year.

Exams

All Years 9 to 12 students have completed formal exams recently. The performance of our students and the level of preparation for these exams by our students is continually improving each year.Students generally used time wisely during the exam staying on task for the entire time. The results of all exams will be reported to families in the semester one reports which are due to be available to families in the last week of term.

Well done to all of students who achieved their best over the semester.

Once again our students’ performance over the semester proves what we can achieve if we exemplify our school values of high expectations, respect and perseverance.

I wish you all a safe and restful break.
