In the Classrooms

The children are working on their writing in developing their sentence fluency. This means they will be looking at their writing and try to vary starts to their sentences, length of the sentence and the rhythm of the written piece. The children are demonstrating a lot of success with this work. 

Numeracy work has continued with multiplication and division as the major focuses for number work. Learning how to use these skills and their knowledge when working with number open ended problems has continued to challenge their thinking.

Literacy circles are continuing to be used with the children, who are reading their class book. Personal reading, and reading at home for pleasure is still an important part of improving reading skills and comprehension for everyone.

Gardening

The gardening program has continued to develop. We now have worm farms, compost heap ,lots of vegetables growing and the hot house almost ready to start operating. The children have been very enthusiastically working during these sessions. Last week they potted a number of strawberries to take home.

Book Week - 2 weeks ago

Dressing up as our favorite book week characters was a very exciting time for the children . Explaining and talking about personal strengths that they gain from reading added to the day. The highlight of the day was Bryce who dressed up as a robot with working lights and buttons.
