National Day of Action Against Bullying

SRC Leads CHS in Day Against Bullying
Friday 16 March saw schools around Australia stand up and be counted amongst those who oppose bullying in all its forms. The event provided an opportunity for our newly formed Student Representative Council to work together as a team to bring our school together and focus on this serious issue.
With a free BBQ on offer and some music to set the mood, students made pledges against bullying and signed 10 T-shirts that were especially printed for the occasion. These shirts will be sent to people whose voices students respect, including the Prime Minister, who heavily promoted this year's event.
At CHS, the safety of our students comes first. School should be a safe place where people are free to learn and feel a sense of belonging. As a community, we have taken enormous strides to eliminate bullying and discrimination on the basis of disability, race, religion and sexual orientation and the fight continues to ensure that that our differences are not ammunition for those who seek to do us harm. A key message from this year's day of action was to speak up against bullying and to not be silent witness as there are no innocent bystanders when someone's life is being impacted by bullying.
