Netball
On Friday the 6th of April Alexis Cook, Georgie Schultz, Heather Bassett, Anna Newsome, Sophie Carson and Jorja Curry were selected to go down to Tamworth to try out for the diocesan netball team. We were split into different teams with students from schools all over the Armidale Diocese. We played 6 games and all day selectors were walking around watching us play. Then 16 girls were selected to play in a “possibles and probables” match, from there 8 girls were selected for the diocesan team. Everyone played amazingly on the day and Sophie Carson and I were very excited to be selected for the dio team, we will go back down to Tamworth on the 4th May to trial for the Polding team.

Soccer
On Friday 6th of April, Toby Ryder, Riley Fittler, Khye Mcmillan, Ben Ferguson,
Angus Barley, Matthew Weston, Alanah Keene and Indiana Ramage went to Tamworth to trial for the diocesan soccer team. At the start of the day we were all split up into teams and the girls and boys were seperated. There was lots of kids. The boys had 60 children and the girls 29. We did some drills so they could examine our skills and abilities and start selecting the people of interest. The drills were very fun and challenging. Once the drills were complete we played two games to show how we could be effective on the field. This was very intense but after a bit we began to enjoy it. After that, the coaches had a very tough decision to make because they were eliminating some competitors to narrow down the list. Khye McMillan, Toby Ryder and Indiana Ramage were able to move on and weren’t eliminated. We played another game so the coaches could decide the final team. The games were intense and nerve racking but we worked very hard and showed them what we could do. Then we waited patiently for the list to be called and were all very excited for Indiana Ramage when she was selected.

Hockey
On Friday, along with many other students, St Mary’s had seven kids trial for hockey. The day was filled with skills and challenging games. Everyone tried their best on the day and we are happy to say that six of our seven kids made it through to the polding team. I would like to congratulate Mia Vaughan who sadly didn’t make on the team but still tried her hardest and hopefully can get in next year.
I would also wish to congratulate the following people who made the polding team: Cottee Harwood, Miller Harwood, Mitchell Northam, Lucas Thornton, Ella Munday and Ava Vaughan. Good Luck at Polding Hockey which will be at Tamworth on 4th May 2018.

Rugby League
On Friday, 6th of April I went to Tamworth for diocesan Rugby League trials. I was put in a team with a bunch of other students from Moree, Inverell, Guyra and all around northern NSW. There was a lot of really great players. My team played four games in total against tough opposition which meant we lost three games and won one.
