Primary Mass

Thursday 14 March, 9.15am.

Pope Francis, Manila, 2015

“In the family we learn how to love, to forgive, to be generous and open, not closed and selfish. We learn to move beyond our own needs, to encounter others and share our lives with them. That is why it is so important to pray as a family!”

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, falls on Wednesday 6 March (Week 6).  Along with St Mary’s, St Xavier’s Primary students will celebrate Mass in the St Xavier’s Hall on this day to mark the beginning of the Lenten Period. Infant students will attend an Ash Wednesday Liturgy in the Kindergarten classroom instead of attending the Mass that morning.

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Grant me your strength, so I will have courage in every situation;

Grant me your love, so I will never give up on anybody;

Grant me your wisdom, so I will show others the path to success;

Grant me your mercy, so I will forgive those who have hurt me;

Grant me your peace, so I will find the best in everybody;

Grant me your hope, so I will never give up;

Grant me your joy, so I will be thankful for all my blessings;

And Grant me your grace, so you will always be at my side.

Amen

Opening School Mass

Last Thursday, St Xavier’s and St Mary’s College combined to celebrate their Opening School Mass. The hall was just about overflowing with students, teachers and families, who all came to witness Fr John lead Mass before welcoming in the 2019 leaders for both schools. Congratulations to all the school leaders in 2019. Thank you to Nikole Brooks (SMC) for her help in organising the Mass.

St Joseph's Parish Altar Servers

Fr John will be conducting some lunchtime training sessions for all new and existing Altar Servers in Weeks 4 and 5. Following this, an Altar Serving Roster will be produced and sent home to the families of the Altar Servers. It is important to make a note of the dates your child is rostered on for Altar Serving and organise a replacement in advance if your child is unable to attend the Mass that they are rostered on for. Regularly attending Mass is important so children can learn the correct Altar Serving practices by observing others.
