Footy Colours Day

Footy colours day happened again at Baimbridge on Thursday Sept 13th. Over $250 was raised by the students to go towards cancer research. Thanks to the vast majority of students that were involved. Pictured are some of the students that won prizes on the day consisting of footies, drink bottles , caps and bags kindly donated by our local football representative Jock Whiting who supports our day every year. These were judged by our football stars Maddie, Emma, Airlie, Jorja and Mikayla from Year 12.

Thanks to the SRC reps who helped set it up - especially Jacob Mills from Yr 12.

Outdoor Ed Adventures

The ‘Outdoor Ed Water’ group were blessed with a sunny, yet slightly windy day for their ½ day bike ride.  The team displayed amazing group cohesion and were happy to cater for all abilities in this group.  The battle up the Mt Baimbridge hill to the lookout had hearts pumping well above the average rate and quadriceps burning.  The single file challenge along Gray St was met with smiling faces from the Gray St shoppers.  Well done team, you were amazing.  A huge thank you goes out to Mr Shane Price for accompanying us on our adventures.

Riding to school

On the 5th of September as part of PE week some awesome students and staff made the effort to assemble at the lake and ride to school.  Well done to everyone who participated in the ride, we are sure you felt more energised throughout the day as a result.

Work Related Skills students making a difference

Our Year 12 WRS students have finally beaten the inclement weather to go to Melville Oval today to do their part in contributing to our wider community by replacing the deteriorated seats at Melville Oval.  We look forward to seeing the results of their initiative to help the community and we are sure that the Cricket and Football users will most definitely benefit.

Humanities WW1 & WW2 Units

Our head of Gateway Cleaning, Tony Thurgood, kindly donated his time to show four of our Humanities classes his collection of bayonets, rifles, helmets and other hand to hand combat implements last week from both WW1 and WW2.  He also had a rifle from the Zulu wars from 1879. All students were mightily impressed and enjoyed experiencing these items in real life rather than looking at a picture in a book.  Thanks to Miss Turnbull for organising the experience.

Fathers Day Stall and Raffle

On Friday ,August the 31st, the Year 11 VCAL students as a part of their PDS studies ran a Fathers Day Stall, conducted a raffle and auctioned off some firewood. The money that was raised is going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (Victorian Branch).

Through their fantastic efforts the group managed to raise in excess of $1000.00.

This amount was made possible through the support of the staff and students of Baimbridge College and the broader Hamilton community. A number of staff also willingly gave of their time to assist the students.

There were also a number of local people and businesses who generously donated wares for the raffle and/or the various stalls. I cannot thank them enough for their generous contributions.

I would however like to publically acknowledge them.

STEAMING EGGS

The STEAM students have been busy this week dropping eggs from the Fire Escape on the East Campus to see how their creative thinking skills have translated into the real world.  The brief was simple, create something to protect the egg from cracking or smashing on impact .  Students  showed great ingenuity in their ideas.
