Hospitality Pathways
It is much pride and pleasure that I introduce you to two of our VET students: Jasmine Stiles and Anastasia Barba. Both students are completing VCE VET courses in Hospitality through the Inner Melbourne VET Cluster at ‘The Little Kitchen That Could’.
Jasmine is in Year 2 and completing scored assessment in Kitchen Operations (back of house) and will receive a study score that can contribute to her ATAR. This course will prepare Jasmine with a range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items. It includes units such as; preparing appetisers and salads, preparing stocks, soups and sauces, preparing vegetables, fruit and preparing poultry dishes.
Anastasia is a Year 1 student completing a dual program that includes both ‘front and back of house operational skills. It includes units such as; prepare/serve expresso coffee, non-alcoholic beverages, food and beverage service and advice on food.
Both students are thoroughly enjoying their courses and while achieving competencies, they are also developing the knowledge, skills, and competency that will enhance their employment prospects in the hospitality and service industries. VET studies are counted towards their ATAR.
